The objectives of Mended Hearts are to offer hope, support, and encouragement to heart disease patients and their
families. Members achieve the objectives of Mended Hearts by:
Visiting, with physician approval, and offering encouragement and support to heart disease patients and
their families or caregivers through local visiting programs. Accredited visitors visit in hospitals, homes, telephone, and through the Internet.
Distributing information of specific educational value to members of The Mended Hearts, Inc. and to heart
disease patients, their families and caregivers.
Establishing and maintaining a program of assistance to physicians, nurses, medical professionals and
healthcare organizations in their work with heart disease patients, their families and caregivers.
Cooperating with other organizations in education and research activities pertaining to heart disease.
Establishing and assisting heart disease rehabilitation programs for members and their families/caregivers.
Planning and conducting suitable programs of social and educational interest for members, for heart disease
patients and their families and caregivers.
The Greater Hartford, Connecticut chapter (Chapter 9) is one of many available in 260 cities across the U.S. and in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
It is an organization whose members are grateful to be alive and eager to help others. Volunteers from our local chapter visit with heart patients and
their families at
Hartford Hospital,
St. Francis Hospital and
University of Connecticut Medical Center.
